With a month to go to the Royal Wedding between William and his Kate in Westminster Abbey we thought we’d give you a Swedish love story.
On Valentine’s Day we launched a competition where we were looking for a Swedish couple that would like to get married at Sweden’s largest travel exhibition, called TUR, in Gothenburg. The winning couple also got to go on a “Royal” honeymoon to Britain, worth approx. £3000, arranged by Classic World.
35 Swedish couples entered the competition and last week, 25 March, the winners walked down the aisle at the exhibition in Gothenburg!
Maria Lindström and Peter McBeath met in Ibiza 30 years ago and they have been a couple ever since. Peter actually proposed to Maria 28 years ago, but she wasn’t ready for the big step just then. Now they have two grown up sons and they wanted to take the chance to get married before their sons did!
The ceremony took place at the stage at Meetings@TUR and the travel trade, press, their friends and relatives got the chance to take part in their great moment, and they are now Mr and Mrs McBeath.
We wish Maria and Pete the best of luck and hope they enjoy their “Royal” honeymoon in Britain!

So, here we are, at least some of us, in front of our quite attractive back wall. Welcome by our stand at TUR, section B06:02!
As mentioned earlier, this week you have had the chance to win a trip to London. Together with VisitBritain, the radio station Mix Megapol (107,3) has had a competition in their morning show “Morrongänget” every day this week.

The winner was announced on radio yesterday and she came down to our stand at TUR to collect her prize:
- Flight tickets with BA
- Accomodation at Radission Portman
- Oyster card
- Heathrow Express
- Theatre tickets to “Hairspray”
- Shopping voucher at Westfield London Shopping Centre worth £100
We congratulate the lucky winner and thank everybody that tuned in to take part in the competition!

Finally I have arrived at TUR.!
On this first day for consumers people are crowding our stand – fun!
What they find attractive about Britain differs. The top West End show Sister Act that our friends Applause can tell you all about is a hit! Our friend from the English Riviera says the whole region is attractive and I truly believe her.
A game of golf at Old Course St. Andrews in Scotland has always been just that – attractive, not to mention Scotland itself.
Our fabulous disco MINI is of course attractive and our kissing competition draws loads of attractive people. But if you ask me, in our cool t-shirts we’re definitely more attractive as well!
See you soon!

As I type VisitBritain are on their way to Gothenburg to attend the annual TUR fair. This is the largest travel trade and consumer fair in the Nordic region (March 19th-22nd) and every year we challenge ourselves to come with something more exciting the previous year.
