Get a taste of Scotland – in Stockholm

Isle of Skye

Isle of Skye

If you don’t have the time to visit Scotland – you can get a taste at home! Every year, Akkurat Restaurant & Bar on Södermalm in Stockholm is running “Scottish Weeks” and this year it runs from 15-30 November.

Micke Nilsson at Akkurat tells us all about it:

-We will be serving beers from two great Orkney breweries; the “Orkney Brewery” located close to the Neolithic site Skara Brae and the “Highland Brewing co.” in Evie. Also from the excellent “Cairngorm Brewery” in Aviemore, and from the young and inventive lads at “Brew Dog” in Fraserburgh.

- But that is not all! We also serve Swedish “Scottish” beers from local breweries, Oppigårds Brewery with Tartan Ale and Skebo Brewery with an, as yet, unnamed real ale.

Micke continues:

-Some very special whisky tastings are on the menu. We will, for instance, try all the whiskies of Islay – something that Swedes tend to appreciate very much. One tasting will contain whiskies from the lesser-known eastern Highlands region and another will focus entirely on the Ardbeg Distillery.

Micke has also prepared a great itinerary only for you, our dear readers, where he shares his favourite whisky distilleries around Scotland! So stay tuned, and in the meantime (if you live or will be visiting Stockholm) make sure you enjoy “mini Scotland” at Akkurat before the end of the month.

slàinte mhath!
